Emergency Response Competition

The Emergency Response Committee is a standing committee of the Tasmanian Minerals Council. It is made up of representative of the mining and mineral processing sites in Tasmania. Its Chairman is Mr John Lamb, who is the General Manager of the MMG Rosebury Mine and who is also a Director of the Tasmanian Minerals Council. It is the policy of the Board to have each of the standing committees chaired by a Director.

Until last year, emergency response activities concentrated on the mining side of the industry but the Board took a decision to widen it to bring in the excellent emergency response teams from the mineral processing side of the industry.

The Emergency Response Committee now provides a platform to integrate emergency response skills across the metals industry and across the state and to facilitate exchange of learning’s, best practice and a test of skills in a revamped emergency response competition.

The  Board of the Minerals Council wishes to thank Mr Scot Clyde, the General Manager of Vedanta Copper Mines of Tasmania and the company for hosting the initial expanded competition.
