The Tasmanian Minerals Council is the representative organisation for the exploration, mining and mineral processing industries in Tasmania. The Council counts among its members all of the main mines and mineral processing operations.
In addition, a range of companies and individuals who provide goods and services to the minerals industry are members of the Minerals Council.
The Council has its office on the corner of Davey and Murray Streets in Hobart and is called the Mining and Minerals Centre. It includes the executive and administrative staff.
The Minerals Council is part of the exploration, mining and mineral processing industries and represents the views of the industry on a range of issues to Government – State and Federal, NGOs and the public, including the school system.
The Council is administered by a board of up to ten members, drawn in proportion from the various membership categories. There are also a number of standing committees which attend to specific areas of interest. These are occupational health and safety, sustainable development, and land management.
